how do you inspect a mamiya c330?
i found a blue dot, and i'm quite interested in getting started with "one" TLR camera. I really don't want to get sucked into buying many rollei's.
- there are a few questions i want to ask...
- how can i check lens quality with the shutter always closed?
- how do i check the bellows and light seals?
If you put the shutter on B (for bulb) you should be able to hold the shutter open.
For light leaks I would remove the lens assembly and then extend the belows. The use a pen light flash light and shine it inside and look from the outside. A bore light http://www.king-tool.com/bore-light-kit.php might be helpful.
Check for oil on the shutter blades, also on the lens elements.
I have an older C2 and the belows is still in great shape. If you don't have a lot of wear on the camera belows then it will likely be OK. If it looks good visually then it likely will be. But if it has had a lot of hard use or was not stored properly then it should show and then just pass it up or don't pay buch for it. Probably better to pass.
