Are non polarized oakley lens still better at blocking the sun than other un polarized sunglass lens?
Yes. Oakley glasses are famous for their durability and their clarity. As far as "blocking the sun" are you talking about Visible or invisible wavelengths of light?
All tinted polycarbonate materials will block the light from the sun that we can see. However the difference is in the blocking of the sunlight that we cannot see. Most all polycarbonate lenses (including cheapo gas station lenses) will block UVA, some will bock UVA and UVB. However, only Oakley lenses will also block the other wavelengths of UV light.
Oakley blocks 100% of all UV light. While visible light causes discomfort, it's the UV light rays that actually cause damage to the eyes.
So to answer your questions, YES, Oakley lenses are still better.
