What is film effects in digital photo editing softwares?
I come across some option like film effects like provia, velvia, Chrome etc....what are these. Can anyone show me a link to some good article on these film effects.

Wow! These are old old films made by Fujifilm and Kodak.
You can research for pictures that were shot by those films to get an idea of what they look like.
Basically, what you'll find is oversaturation- sometimes the image is more blue or yellow than it's supposed to be. Play around with the 3 and apply them to your digital photo so you can see the difference I'm talking about. That's the best way to remember what they do.
