How does a pc analyser post card work?

Has anyone found real english instructions that you can understand, for one of these chinese cards?
It just isn't very clear how to use them. I have a four digit display one, and was wondering if anyone knows of where to get clear instructions, or indeed can shed some light.

I have one of these I got about five/six years ago. It fits in a PCI or ISA slot (good luck finding one of those now!). It is still useful though. Still works.

"BIOS is what makes the system run an initial Power-On Self-Test of the computer, initialize circuits, load the boot program from the boot disk, and then handle low-level I/O to peripheral controllers such as keyboard and display."

The BIOS is what causes the computer to beep once before the OS loads. This one beep means everything is fine with the hardware and it is passing control to the OS, ie. Windows, Linux, etc. If there is more than one beep, continuous beeps or a pattern of then, then it is trying to tell you what is wrong.

It is not easy to count and compare beeps. Was it a short beep, a long one, three short ones and two long ones, or vice-a-versa? Fortunately, the BIOS also generates a hex coded number (base 16) for the problem. This is really all the beeps are trying to convey anyway. The error code number. The four digits on the card display this hex number.

Unfortunately, this error number varies by BIOS manufacturer, of which there are three major vendors which is all you will normally see in home PC's. Some are the same, some different.

For example, say everything was OK and it is time to load the OS. The last digits you will get on the display will usually be FF. Which means the BIOS is loading the boot sector/attempting to boot the OS (int 19), etc. The BIOS is then done. Job over until the next boot really. Unless something goes wrong, such as CPU overheating or fan failure and then if it is set up to it will forcibly halt the system to protect it from damage (in theory).
